1. UNDERSTANDING THE SUBJECT OF THE EVENT. As an emerging and growing artiste, always READ THE ROOM at an event to understand your audience and setting before climbing the stage. That helps you to know the type of songs to perform and other things. BEFORE PERFORMANCE
2.KNOWING YOUR STAGE PERFORMACE DURATION Always ask the stage manager how many minutes have been allocated to you for performance before the event. That helps you arrange your songs and performance so you don’t get cut off on stage for over staying. I have also noticed that some artistes after the MC must have introduced you on stage, you collect the mic and want to do another introduction and talk and even freestyle first before performance. NOTE: If you don’t mark your time frame, You will most likely not complete talking before the DJ will interrupt you by playing your song for you. After the intro from the DJ, collect mic do your song or songs as the case may be and move!!
3. ALWAYS HAVE SYNERGETIC GRASP WITH THE DISK JOCKEY (DJ)
After performing the first song, you now use the mic to shout DJ PLAY ME TRACK 2 WHY ? Always have a synergy with the DJ so he or she could cues in your next song with a signal from you. Discuss with the DJ how you want your songs to sync in or better still do a Mix from home with the songs and give the DJ to play.
